Common use
Valparin tablets is used to treat various types of seizures and prevent epileptic attacks. It works by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain and helps control both focal and generalized seizures. This medicine belongs to the class of anticonvulsants. In addition to its primary use, this tablet also helps manage manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder by stabilizing mood and reducing symptoms such as irritability and impulsivity.
Dosage and direction
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Don't crush or chew the tablet. Follow your doctor's instructions on when to take the tablet. Never take more than your doctor has prescribed.
Precautions
The use of this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not recommended without a doctor's advice. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or nursing.
Patients with a history of depression or liver disease should exercise caution while taking this medicine.
Contraindications
This medicine should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to Sodium Valproate / Valproic Acid or any other constituents of this medicine.
Patients with known urea cycle disorders or mitochondrial disorders caused by mutations in mitochondrial DNA polymerase γ (POLG) should refrain from using this medicine.

Valparin tablets may have the following common side effects: Nausea; Vomiting; Hair loss; Increased appetite and weight gain; Tremor.
Drug interaction
Valparin (Sodium Valproate / Valproic Acid) may interact with salicylates (eg., aspirin and bismuth subsalicylate), benzodiazepines (eg., diazepam and lorazepam), carbapenem antibiotics (eg., imipenem and meropenem), other anticonvulsants (eg., phenytoin and phenobarbital) and antifungal medicines (eg., ketoconazole and levoketoconazole).
Missed dose
If you forget to take a dose of Valparin tablets, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never increase your dosage without consulting your doctor.
Overdose
If you accidentally take more than the prescribed dose of Valparin, you may experience symptoms like nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness. It's important not to panic but to inform your doctor about this.
Storage
Store Valparin tablet in its original packaging at room temperature below 30°C. Keep this medicine away from direct light, heat, and moisture. Always keep it out of the reach and sight of children.
